FAQ 1
Q: Is natural cork safe for my cat to chew, lick and scratch? Are there any toxic chemicals?
A: All MOCHERPION scratchers use 100% pure natural cork oak bark without chemical coatings, VOC glues or synthetic additives. Cork’s natural suberin layer delivers antibacterial & anti-mold properties, with water absorption under 5%. It produces only minimal fine dust when scratched. Small cork fragments swallowed by cats can pass through their digestive tract naturally without toxic risk, fully safe for kittens, adult cats and teething kitties.
FAQ 2
Q: How long does a cork scratcher last compared to cardboard, sisal or carpet scratchers?
A: Our high-density solid cork scratchers are 3–6 times more durable than disposable corrugated cardboard scratchers. Unlike cardboard that crumbles in weeks, frayed sisal rope or snag-prone carpet, cork springs back after heavy scratching without permanent gouges or shedding. It can serve your cat for multiple years of daily claw maintenance.
FAQ 3
Q: What’s the environmental advantage of cork? You mentioned harvested oak trees photosynthesize 5x faster, please explain.
A: Cork harvesting never cuts down oak trees—artisans only strip outer bark, and intact trees accelerate metabolism to regrow bark, reaching 5x faster photosynthesis capacity than unharvested oaks. More photosynthesis means far more CO₂ absorption to fight global warming. Raw cork fully biodegrades within 6 months–2 years in soil without microplastic waste, unlike plastic/synthetic pet goods that pollute landfills for centuries. Every MOCHERPION purchase supports carbon reduction and Mediterranean forest biodiversity protection.
FAQ 4
Q: Is cork noisy when my cat scratches it at midnight? Will it disturb my sleep?
A: Cork’s millions of microscopic air pockets create built-in sound-dampening elasticity. It muffles harsh, sharp claw scraping sounds far better than cardboard, wood or sisal. Most owners report barely audible scratching noise even during late-night play, delivering peaceful nights without disruptive sounds.
FAQ 5
Q: How do I clean and maintain MOCHERPION cork cat scratchers? Will cat hair stick badly on the surface?
A: Cork features a tight non-porous neutral surface that resists fur adhesion. Simply wipe loose cat hair, stains or spills with a damp cloth—no stubborn stuck fur or lingering pet odors. For deep cleaning, use mild soap water and air dry naturally; avoid harsh bleach or strong chemical cleaners which may damage the natural bark texture.
FAQ 6
Q: Will my cat refuse to use cork scratchers? Do cats like cork texture?
A: Cork retains authentic oak bark grain that perfectly mimics tree trunks in the wild, triggering cats’ innate climbing & scratching instincts. Its subtle natural wood scent relieves feline anxiety and stress. Most cats will immediately abandon sofas and curtains to scratch our cork scratchers. If your cat is hesitant at first, sprinkle a little catnip on the surface to boost attraction. Our scratch surface combines cork with corrugated cardboard or felt to offer multiple textures, greatly boosting cats’ interest in using it.
FAQ 7
Q: Is cork waterproof? Will it grow mold if my cat spills water or pees on it?
A: Cork contains natural suberin wax, making it water-repellent with under 5% water absorption rate. It resists mold and mildew growth far better than fabric, cardboard and cheap plywood. If liquid spills occur, wipe up quickly and air dry in cool ventilation.
FAQ 8
Q: Why is cork more expensive than cheap cardboard scratchers? Is it worth the extra cost?
A: Cork is a premium, slow-regenerating natural raw material harvested only once every 9–15 years, with eco-friendly zero-waste production standards. While cardboard scratchers need replacement every 1–3 months, our cork scratcher lasts multiple years, cutting long-term repurchase costs drastically. It also protects your expensive furniture, eliminates plastic waste, offers quiet, pet-safe and home-decor friendly performance—bringing comprehensive value that disposable alternatives cannot match.
FAQ 9
Q: Does cork match modern home decor? Will it look like a cheap plastic pet accessory?
A: MOCHERPION solid cork features muted neutral earth tones and minimalist organic grain, seamlessly blending with minimalist, mid-century modern, boho, farmhouse and Nordic home styles. Unlike garish plastic or bright printed cardboard, our cork scratchers double as elegant home decor pieces that elevate room aesthetics without clashing your interior design.
FAQ 10
Q: Can I fully recycle or compost this cork scratcher when it wears out eventually?
A: 100% yes. Pure natural cork is a fully circular material. Once your scratcher reaches the end of its lifespan, you can cut it into small pieces and add it to home compost—they will fully decompose within 2 years without toxic residue. Local garden waste recycling facilities also accept raw cork waste, no landfill pollution required.
FAQ 11
Q: What size cork scratcher should I pick for large cat breeds like Maine Coon or multiple-cat households? How many scratchers do I need for multi-cat homes?
A: Our largest cork models are built for big cats, long enough for full-body stretching without restriction. Industry pet behavior experts recommend the N+1 rule: 1 scratcher per cat plus an extra spare. For 2+ cats, we suggest 2–3 cork scratchers placed separately in sleeping, living and window areas to avoid resource competition and fighting.
FAQ 12
Q: Why my cat still ignores the cork scratcher after sprinkling catnip? Any placement tips to attract my cat to scratch it instead of sofas?
A: Cats scratch to mark territory after waking up or meals. Place the cork scratcher right beside their bed, favorite sofa or window perch—their daily high-traffic zones. Rub a little catnip or silver vine on the surface, and reward treats when they scratch the cork. Avoid tucking it into quiet corners; hidden positions will lower usage rate.
FAQ 13
Q: Is solid cork heavy enough to avoid tipping over when my cat jumps and scratches vigorously?
A: All MOCHERPION solid cork scratchers feature thickened weighted base structure. High-density natural cork has stable weight distribution, anti-slip flat bottom. Even hyperactive, heavy cats scratch hard without tipping, no extra non-slip mat required for most floors.
FAQ 14
Q: Where do you ship orders from within the US? How long is delivery & do you ship to Alaska & Hawaii?
A: All MOCHERPION cork pet products stock in our US mainland warehouse. Standard shipping takes 3–7 business days, expedited 1–3 days. We ship to all contiguous US states; Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico require additional surcharge with longer transit time, calculated automatically at checkout.
FAQ 15
Q: Are there extra shipping fees for oversized cork cat trees or large scratch pads?
A: Medium & small cork scratchers enjoy flat-rate free standard shipping over $49. Extra dimensional surcharge only applies to full-size multi-level cork cat trees, which will be clearly displayed before payment with no hidden fees.
FAQ 16
Q: What’s your warranty policy for cork scratchers? What if my product arrives damaged during shipping?
A: We offer 12-month quality warranty against manufacturing defects. If items arrive cracked, chipped or damaged in transit, take clear photos of the package and product within 48 hours after delivery, contact our support team, we arrange free replacement without return shipping cost.
FAQ 17
Q: Can I return or exchange the cork scratcher if my cat totally refuses to use it?
A: Unused, unsoiled cork scratchers within 30-day return window are eligible for exchange or full refund. Heavily scratched, stained, chewed used items cannot be returned due to hygiene policy, we recommend testing placement & catnip tricks before requesting returns.
FAQ 18
Q: Does cork produce dust that triggers cat or human allergies?
A: Natural cork only releases minimal coarse particles instead of fine floating dust, far less irritating than cardboard or cheap wood. It contains no latex, formaldehyde or artificial allergens. If you or your pet have severe respiratory sensitivity, regular light wiping can further reduce tiny particles.
FAQ 19
Q: What’s the difference between solid cork and cork composite board? Why solid cork costs more?
A: MOCHERPION adopts whole solid natural cork without adhesive filler. Composite cork mixes cork dust + glue, easier to shed dust & deform after scratching. Solid cork retains complete natural bark structure, antibacterial, quieter, 3–6x longer lifespan, zero chemical binder added.
FAQ 20
Q: How does cork compare with sisal rope scratchers and cardboard scratchers? Which one is better for indoor house cats?
A: Sisal scratchers shed loose strings everywhere and create harsh scratching noise. Cardboard scratchers wear out quickly with poor durability, make loud noise and cannot resist water. Cork produces barely any dust, works silently, matches home decor and is fully biodegradable. For indoor families that value a quiet, tidy home environment and eco-luxury aesthetic, cork is the better long-term choice.
